Vintage Cape Horn

First batch of entries arrive!

The response to the Vintage Cape Horn has been fantastic and places have been taken from all over the globe.

Charles and Nellie Bishop who won the Pioneer class on the 2010 Peking to Paris join us in their 1925 Vauxhall 30-98 and Arthur and Anna Manners bring their 1927 Oldsmobile 30 E Tourer. Rupert Marks and Simon Mackenzie Smith bring their Peking to Paris car, a 1928 Ford Model 6 Christian Dumolin from Belgium brings us a 1928 4.5 Le Mans Bentley with British couple Robert and Jane Abrey undecided if they bring their Le Mans Bentley that did so well on the 2007 Peking to Paris or their 1912 Chalmers 10 that competed last year on the Flying Scotsman. Alain Grisay has just entered his 1931 Invicta Low chassis S, but has yet to nominate his navigator.

We have a whole group of enthusiasts from the USA - David Cooley and Ross Lilleker in their 1931 Ford A Sedan and 2010 Peking entrant Bill Shields who is bringing his son Alex in a 1939 Dodge with Bill’s friends and neighbours Danny Day and son Michael are using their 1940 Buick 46C Special convertible. Lesley Roy and Randy Elliott intend to use the 1935 Ford Model B Phaeton used on the 2010 Peking to Paris. Richard Taylor joins us again in his 1940 Chevrolet Coupe.

Former Winners of the 2007 Peking to Paris David and Sadie Williams are dusting off their 1938 Chevrolet Fangio Coupe to see if they can pick up another Vintage trophy for the mantelpiece. Jonathan Turner intends to drive his ultra rare 1934 Triumph Dolomite, but has yet to nominate his co-driver. (this is the car designed by Donald Healey that nearly broke the company, trying to copy the Alfa Romeo 8C)

Peter Livanos and Franco Lupi from Switzerland are giving the gorgeous 1931 Alfa Romeo 8C Zagato another outing, after it picked up a class win on the 2011 Flying Scotsman. They are joined by Etienne and Liddy Veen who have competed on numerous events but have not yet nominated their car. Aston Martin stalwart Sir Gerry Acher is bringing his wife Joyce in their 1932 Aston Martin International whilst German couple Herman and Michaela Layher may bring their 1929 Mercedes S but Herman also rallies Bentleys so he may change his mind on this. Bruce Selbie and Bruce Robertson from New Zealand are bringing their 1939 Chevrolet purchased especially for the event, after they saw how these cars romped to victory in 2007 and 2010.

Jean and Anne Steinhauser from Luxembourg who recently completed the 2010 Peking to Paris in a 1940 La Salle Coupe have decided to bring their 1937 Bentley Derby 4.25 which they are having completely restored. Jan and Marleen Dingemans bring us a 1933 Lagonda M45 and Jan and Marion Van Gemert fresh from our recent 4th Classic Safari challenge have reserved a place but are still deciding on the car. Many previous Peking to Paris competitors from both the 2007 and 2010 events have expressed their intention to join us, namely Hugo Upton and Nigel Gambier, Irish identical twins Andrew and Nicky Bailey both intend to bring a crew , Geoff and Penny Rawlins, Richard Martin who has yet to find a co-driver and Paddy Walker who is searching for a suitable car before throwing his hat in the ring. Lloyd and Treacy Reddington who completed the London to Cape Town event have yet to nominate their car. Several regulars who compete in classic cars are now searching for a vintage, this includes Keith & Nora Ashworth and the 2010 Peking to Paris winners of the Vintage category Steve Hyde and Janet Lyne are off to find an early Dodge.
