A look back at the RAC Rally in pictures
Right: Incredible.... All eight marshals hacked around the route running time controls jammed into this Austin A35.... seen here sending Tim Beal and his Daf 55 on his way in 1971.... they should have got that achievement into the Guiness Book of Records.
Tony Gardiner says "I'm no photographer - just a face in the crowd," - a spectator for over 30 years he took snaps using transparency film wherever he went. Tony has built up a terrific collection of RAC Rally photos that have never been published - or seen before, and is now currently working on a new book of RAC Rally pictures, to be published in time for The Revival Rally next November. Our Press Party at the Royal Automobile Club launching The Revival Rally featured a special exhibition of Tony's work, sponsored by Tony Fall of Safety Devices. Here is just a selection....with the focus on "The Underdogs" (but, er, making an exception for Roger Clark).
