Filmed and edited by the same crew who produced the highly acclaimed 2013 Peking to Paris video, The Wild Roads, this DVD of the Road to Mandalay will become a lasting souvenir of a remarkable journey.
Starting in fine style from the Raffles Hotel, Singapore, the film follows the sixty-six cars that set-off to battle it out through South East Asia on the Endurance Rally Association’s Road to Mandalay.
Following Clerk of the Course, John Spiller’s route, the Rally journeyed north over the Straits of Johor and through Malaysia, with closed road tests, both on and off tarmac, taking the crews through miles of palm plantations, paddy fields and mountain switchbacks into the Kingdom of Thailand before becoming the first rally event to drive overland into Burma crossing through the Mae Sot to Myawaddy border post.
Our stay in Myanmar was sensational, its markedly slower pace of life meant we shared the roads with bicycles and bullock carts, passing miles of Buddhist Monks queuing for their daily allowance of rice.
This 31 minute video is a perfect and lasting reminder for those lucky enough to be there or an ideal taster of what to expect for our planned 2018 return to the region when we open for entries…
A complimentary copy of this DVD is being sent to every Road to Mandalay particpant.
