Jeff Urbina (USA) / Chris Pike (NZ) – 1972 Ford Escort

The ubiquitous Ford Escort which first competed in 1968 with a win by Roger Clark, went on to dominate national and world rallying for ten years afterwards. The car is still the most popular car for classic and club rallying anywhere in the world. There are two such full rally Escorts competing on the New Zealand Classic rally. We are featuring one of them, an ex-works Ford team car owned and driven with great success by American Jeffrey Urbina. He and his Kiwi navigator, Chris Pike are enjoying the Escort’s wonderful handling over the awesome New Zealand roads, gravel or tarmac this car loves both surfaces. Watch as Jeffrey takes you round the car and see the blue and orange machine in action.
